Late Shri Shankar Lal ji, the inspiration behind the Shankar Chai business, was a man of unwavering principles who valued purity, integrity, and quality. He believed deeply in providing the finest tea at a fair price to all. Guided by his motto, “अच्छा दो और सस्ता दो” (“Give good quality at an affordable price”), he set a standard that continues to shape the brand today. Beyond tea, Shri Shankar Lal ji was also knowledgeable in Ayurveda and selflessly treated people from all backgrounds, offering free medicines to those in need. His legacy of service, quality, and compassion continues to inspire us all even today.

Shri Bhagwan Das Gupta ji started his tea business in 1974 with a mission to bring the best quality tea to people of Kumaon. Known for his hard work, honesty, and dedication, he would taste up to 1,000 cups of tea in a single day to select the finest leaves from Assam’s best tea gardens. His goal was simple: to ensure that every customer enjoyed top-quality tea. Shri Gupta’s commitment and passion for quality tea remain a guiding principle to this day

Shri Deepak Gupta, son of Shri Bhagwan Das Gupta, now leads Shankar Chai, upholding the family’s 50-year legacy of purity, integrity, and quality. Committed to preserving the trusted brand image built over decades, he ensures that every detail of the tea selection and production process meets the highest standards.
